What We Do
FreeSteppin' Dance Studio specialises in Competitive Freestyle.
It is a popular, versatile and creative form of dancing incorporating many different styles such as Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Rock'n'Roll and many more.
FreeSteppin' are registered and compete under the ADFP (Association of Dance FreeStyle Professionals). As part of our membership with the ADFP, this allows us access to compete in national competitions held regularly. Competitions are held on Sunday's and some competitions can also extend to being held all weekend. These are normally held within a holiday camp where accommodation can be booked. FreeSteppin' tend to do 1 or 2 'weekenders' throughout the year. Otherwise we compete in regular Sunday competitions 2/3 times a month.
We hold regular competitive practises for those who compete, where we will work on the basic skills of a great FreeStyle competitor which includes runs, kicks, spins and jumps. We will also work on floor presence and presentation, perform 'mock' competition runs where the dancers will be given the opportunity to show off their skills to onlookers and are internally graded for their merits in the performance. We also run through stamina and training routines that have been prepared to increase general fitness and stamina. Then we have a practise session where dancers can focus solely on the competition routines.
For those not competing just yet, we also run beginner classes where new dancers can focus on the basic skills of freestyle dancing whilst learning and performing fun and funky routines to popular music. We will cover a range of styles in these classes from fast routines to slow routines to street routines.
